Des McCluskey

Des is an energetic & dedicated Sales Performance Consultant, Trainer & Coach who is occasionally seen on a bicycle. His engagements have particular focus on managing lasting behavioral change, getting business results quickly and tracking the return on investment for his clients.

Des is passionate about encouraging the involvement of front line sales managers to drive change throughout an organisation, and in simplifying complexity for sales people in a relaxed & fun learning environment.

He graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Molecular Biology and having won the British University’s championship for ‘football’ spent 12 months coaching ‘Soccer’ in the USA. When he decided to get a proper job he joined DePuy Johnson & Johnson selling hip & knee replacements and supporting Orthopaedic Surgeons in operating theaters. In a 10 year period at DePuy he became the company’s youngest first line manager and youngest National Sales Manager and was ultimately responsible for a £65million business with 45 staff in a highly technical sales environment. During this time he dealt with all areas of sales force effectiveness, instigating, designing and delivered the leadership coaching programmes across the DePuy UK business. He was also involved in the design and implementation of Strategic Account Management across the 14 separate businesses that make up Johnson & Johnson’s medical devices sector.

Des has helped clients from a range of industries including Defense, IT, Telecoms, Digital Media, Industrial manufacturing and Finance which allows him to share best practices from a diverse array of sectors. Alongside executive one to one coaching, his clients vary in size and complexity from small start-up companies to global corporations.

Des is a fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management and a certified facilitator of the following methodologies:

  • Sales Training – Face to Face Skills, Strategic Planning, Key Account Management
  • Sales Management Coaching & Leadership
  • All facets of Channel Sales Management.

He lives with his wife and two children in Farnham, Surrey where he is a member of local cycling clubs for road and mountain bikes.
